My monitor wont start - Nitro

I recently purchased an Acer LCD Nitro monitor to use for my laptop but it will not turn on. From what I understand, I simply need to connect the HDMI cable to my laptop but the monitor screen remains black while the sound playing from my laptop disappears. Any ideas what the issue could be? I'm using a 3.0 hdmi to usb converter.

    Hi,

    1. Connect the units physically.
    2. Then on the laptop press and hold the windows key and tap on the letter P.
    3. You will get the below menu.
    Setting up a Second or Third Screen in Windows 10 Teton Science Schools Helpdesk
    4. Go with the option Duplicate.

    What laptop do you have? Many USB-C designs don't have video out on them.
