Member Posts: 1 New User
Hello,
Is it possible to upgrade the memory ram from 16BG to 64BG or 32?
My Laptop is Spin 5/ SP515-51GN
If yes, what is the ram module name?
Thank you

    Hi,
You may have onboard memory only in your model, could you please download and install CPU-z, run it and post the pictures for Memory tab and SPD tab for both slots.

First and I presume that you have 16GB of memory, if you have then that is the max memory that your Spin 5/ SP515-51GN can have of DDR4-2133 MHz/1.2 V- 288-pin SO-DIMM into its 2x slots at 8192MB max per slot. If you don't then and to save money, do what brummyfan2 is suggesting above and look at your OEM memory specs with CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID to see what total memory you have and what slots are populated? As and if you have e.g. 1x 8192MB of memory then you can add the same spec memory/timing of 1x 8192MB so that you have the max total of 16384MB memory.

You can populate these slots with the following Aer recommended memory
    • For a total of 8192MB or 4096MB memory = 1x 4096MB stick and an addition of and into slot-2 = 1x 4096MB stick for a total of 8192MB (or just into Slot-1 = 1x 4096MB stick)
    • For a total of 16384MB or 8192MB memory - Slot-1 = 1x 8192MB stick and an addition of and into slot-2 - 1x 8192MB for a total of 16384MB (or just into Slot-1 = 1x 8192MB stick)
You can't have 32GB or 64GB total memory into your Spin 5/ SP515-51GN. Also don't go and put any higher speed/timing than what is recommended of the DDR4-2133 MHz/1.2 V- 288-pin SO-DIMM and put DDR4-2400MHz or DDR4-2666MHz as you could have problems especially if you populate both slots with the max memory capacity e.g. 2x 8192MB DDR4-2400MHz or 2x 8192MB DDR4-2666MHz. Also and another thing for your information; be aware that the OS shuts down at 98°C; Hardware shuts down at 99°C if the laptop overheats. These are the official Acer service manual memory specs for your Spin 5/ SP515-51GN.

The SP515-51GN models only have soldered in memory, no SO-DIMM socket for expansion.
