Swift 5 battery run-down

I notice that even after shut-down , the laptop lost 10% of battery every 24 hrs. There was an older (closed) thread about this : a few folk suggested a paperclip to somehow disconnect the battery , and others mentioned a live USB port , but no-one from Acer (or the community) offered a viable solution despite lots of folk saying "me to". So just asking again ! Why would a shut down machine burn battery power?  And what is the solution?

    Hi,

It may be a battery driver issue. Try to update the battery driver.

    # Try to update the battery driver
    1. Hold windows key and hit letter X.
    2. Choose the device manager option.
    3. Go with the option battery.
    4. Under the title battery.
Update Battery Drivers in Windows EASILY - Driver Easy
    5. Right click on that option ----> Update driver.
    6. Choose "search automatically".
    7. Do the same for all the drivers listed under batteries

Check this T/S and post the result.

It sounds like it's sleeping instead of shutting down. During sleep it does things like keeping the WiFi active so it can wake when requested. A Hibrernation of full shutdown shouldn't use much battery.

Thanks to both of you for those suggestions. Unfortunately the system tells me the Microsoft battery drivers are up to date. As does Acer system-check screen. Yes , I understand the sleep/shutdown. It def goes into shutdown when i press power off button.  Here is the earlier thread>

I'm reluctant to go down the calibration route : lots of heartache and no reported success. I suppose the "pinhole" paperclip idea is worth a try , but what a pathetic solution!.  The only other idea was a active USB charging port : but I dont think anyone offered a working response to that either.
He ho : just have to charge it every few days . Lovely laptop , but what a pathetic fault to sell it with.
