SP314-54N laptop black screens after going into sleep mode (or being turned off)

Member Posts: 1 New User
Hey everyone,

Hope I can get some answers. Since the most recent Windows update (3-4 days ago), my laptop goes to a black screen after going into sleep mode (or being turned off) and can only be turned on again if I hold the power button for 15 seconds, manually shutting off the laptop and then turning it back on again. It's also important to note that during this black screen, the laptop's fan almost always turns on very loudly until I manually shut off the computer. No other keys (ctrl alt del or even pressing the power button) work when the black screen occurs.

Should I do a factory reset? FYI the laptop is super new - got it in December.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

    Hi,

    # Power drain,

    1)Unplug the AC power adapter.
2)Press and hold the Power button down until the unit goes off.
3)Search for a pinhole on the backside of your laptop, insert a small paperclip in the battery reset pinhole, press and hold it down for 25 seconds. Then release the paperclip and try to turn on the unit and check.

It sounds to me like you are never getting fully shut down or fully into sleep mode. That's usually the fault of a poorly written application or driver. Try booting in safe mode to see if it acts normally there.
