Today my Bluetooth suddenly disappeared. I check the device driver and no Bluetooth is showing , however I do have and Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Failed). I have attempted to re-install the Bluetooth driver but nothing has changed. Has anyone had a similar issue?

[Edited the thread to add issue detail]

Yup, it's an issue with one of the newer Microsoft updates. They typically get it fixed within a couple of weeks or a month but you might just try rolling the last few back until it works again. It seems they are mucking something up down at the chipset level and it corrupts some of the internal USB ports.

Hi. I have just had this problem and thought would share how I fixed it. Am running Windows 11.

PROBLEM: I was trying to connect my Bluetooth speaker to my Acer XC-885 and when hitting "add device" it errored and wouldn't even search. After the troubleshooters not offering any help and after checking my drivers (Windows button +X then selected Device Manager) I could not view any Bluetooth drivers (see attached drawing following fix that shows it there). I found an article (link below) that made me realise they were simply missing (think others have said it's due to updates messing them up - nice!) and so I needed to install them.

If it is the same for you, and you also have Windows 10 or 11, are using Intel (check the actual hard drive for labels) then you can probably bypass the article I used and go direct to the Intel Wireless Bluetooth Drivers for Windows 10/11 - see link and just install them: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18649/intel-wireless-bluetooth-drivers-for-windows-10-and-windows-11.html?wapkw=bluetooth.

See attached image of the page and the button. Following install, I restarted (voluntarily) and was able to connect my speaker immediately!

Am also attaching the other article that helped me which suggest as your starting point if your issue or hardware etc, is different from mine:

That can help if you have an Intel WLAN card, but of course wouldn't work at all if your card is an Atheros or some other type. They shipped these units with different cards depending on their availability and pricing.
