PLEASE HELP! My Swift 3 was worling perfectly. I was trying to flash a phone using ODIN and the phone accidentally disconnected from the laptop. My Acer immediately went black and never came back on. When I press the power button the fan starts, the power and the other led turn on but the screens is black. I have tried every trick I have found on the internet with no luck. I have pressed F2, F10, power reset everything, connected to a different monitor via HDMI, disconnected CMOS. I have tried flashing the BIOS using the USB (FAT32) flash method with the latest BIOS version 1.09 but the power LED does not blink but stays on when I push the power button while pressing FM and esc keys. I should mention that I have not been able to find the .fd file. I tried changing the name to the .bin file but the laptop still does exactly the same every time. Any input is appThanks. I am a nurse and this is the laptop I use for my Online bachelor's classes. Thanksss.

My guess is the phone shorted something out which caused the system to go down. That is more of a hardware issue than software, so BIOS flashing wouldn't be of help. It's possible the short just ended up with the battery confused so that it tell the rest of the system there isn't enough power to run. If that's the case a battery reset should clear it up. Disconnect everything from the laptop, including power and turn it over. There's a small pinhole with a battery symbol next to it and under that hole is the reset switch. Use a bent paper clip or something similar and press and hold that switch for 15-30 seconds, then release. Wait for 15-30 minutes to allow all power to bleed off then plug the power cord back in. Wait again, this time until the power indicator says the battery is fully charged and try turning it back on. Let us know how that worked...

I have done that already. No luck. That's what I meant with "power reset everything". I tried that again now and nothing, it is still doing the same. :(
  • Did you connect your cell phone at that location?

If you connected to that USB port, what happens when you disconnect the I / O device?

I disconnected just the wireless card and had the same symptoms, then I disconnected both the card and the cable and I have the same Symptoms just that the LEDs stay off. Fan still turns on. Keyboard lights are on and then turn off by themselves and if I press any key the keyboard lights up again.

I just went to Best Buy and the Geek Squad representative told me that it shouldn't be Bios related because " It would show at least the ACER logo". He thinks it might be the motherboard. please

Tell us exactly how you were "trying to flash a phone using ODIN?" as you should have done it as the link that I've included below explains it! What did you do differently as flashing a Samsung phone with the Samsung ODIN flash tool is simple and it should not brick your Swift 3. This is how you do it "Use Odin to Flash Samsung Galaxy Stock Firmware":

    Install Odin on Your PC

The Odin software only works with Windows, so make sure to have a PC handy. First, download the latest version of Odin. Extract the ZIP file for the latest version and run the EXE file inside of it to launch Odin.

Put Your Phone in Download Mode & Connect to PC

With the device turned off, press Power + Volume Down + Home to enter Download Mode. Some older devices use a different button combination. To find the exact key combination for your device, just do a simple Google search — for instance "Galaxy S3 download mode." At this point you can connect the phone to your PC using the USB data cable.

Newer Galaxy phones without a home button will require a different button combo to enter Download Mode (Volume Down + Bixby + Power). You can read more about the quirks of entering Download Mode on these devices here.

Should I start getting used to the idea of the motherboard being the culprit?  Please help me out.

Thanks. No, the image does not display in the external monitor.
  • So, I really think there may be a problem on the main board. Is the laptop still under warranty?

I don't think it is under warranty. Laptop is about 2 years old. I bought it from acer recertified March 27, 2019 so I'm not sure about the warranty limits on that.
