alright, so, this just started happening today.
last night, my laptop was working perfectly fine. no problems at all. today, when i booted it up, it started constantly disconnecting from the AC adapter at around 80% battery life, disconnecting for as long as it takes to "drain" and then reconnecting. over and over and over.
i've done a google search and i tried the most common fixes (from this forum):
- i've uninstalled the battery drivers, turned off quick restart and restarted. problem persists.
- i've shut down my computer and pressed in the battery reset button for about 15 seconds. problem persists.
- i've put a few layers of electrical tape to keep the button that's located near the RAM pressed down. problem persists.
someone mentioned that my battery might be too worn out and needs replacing. i checked it on HWinfo and it's sitting just above 11% after 2 years of constant use. that seems pretty decent so far. but, the problem seems to disappear if i let the battery drain then plug it back in. it works just fine until it reaches that thresh hold again. i've used the device manager to try and search for updates to my battery drivers, but nada. it found nothing.
so, i'm just stumped where to go from here. any help would be appreciated.
system specs:
Windows 10 64-bit
i7 7700-HQ
GTX 1060 - Driver Version 461.40 (Jan 26th)
...oh, and, unrelated, how could i get my Windows 10 search bar working again? i disabled it a few months ago because it was making my laptop run hot while idle because it was using my dedicated card, but i can't seem to reenable it. i wanna see if a Windows Update fixed that issue.
