About temperature - A717-72G-76v1

Hello. I have A717-72G-76v1 (8750h, GTX1060 6GB, 16GB RAM). The last six months have a constant temperature of 95c after 5-10 minutes of gaming. I cleaned it many times, changed the thermal paste, made the processor downvolt (-125v, operating frequency 3400Mhz). In the afterburner I tried different downvolts, both at low frequencies, and at high and medium. Set the lowest settings in games, set a lower resolution (1920-1080 -> 1366-768). Nothing helps. After 5 minutes, the temperature again rests at 95s and the frequency and FPS begin to drop. Is this a bug or a feature of this laptop? Share how someone deal with it

And by the way, ArcticMX4 thermal paste is used

Its going pretty well. Everything changes when start any game with any settings

Both fans should be running over 5000 rpm at gaming temperatures above 90*C. This would sound quite loud at ~600Hz for 6-blades with distinct beat frequencies like a model drone. Does it sound like both fans are running OK at these high speeds? Jack E/NJ

It sounds like I'm sitting on the runway, they work very loudly. Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the rotation speed on this laptop model.

How far above hard surface does laptop typically sit while gaming? Jack E/NJ

Its staing on table. Try to lift a lit bit, but dont see any difference

Seems like heat sinks are not making good thermal contact with processors. Please describe how you removed old paste & applied ArcticMX4. Jack E/NJ

Its hard to explain, on hodidays try to make a foto. And how you would recomend to apply paste?

For a thermal paste, I apply a large dollop in the middle of both the processor and heat sink. Then press them together while twisting to help spread the paste evenly before tightening with screws. I don't worry about excess paste oozing beyond the processor perimeter onto the mainboard and nearlby components.

For a thermal putty, I knead and press/make a thin sheet with my fingers. Then cut it to the shape of the the cpu with a scissors. Then tighten heatsink with screws. Again, I don't worry about excess putty that is squeezed out.

Thanks. Last time a put a large amount of paste. How do you think, it can be a problem that causes thermal heating?

It should be OK if spread evenly and heatsinks moderately tight against cpu & gpu. However, overheating is possible If heatsinks are loose or not even with top of processor. I think might be useful to paste again. Rising above 94*C so quickly suggests that thermal conduction between the CPU and heatsink surfaces is not very good. Jack E/NJ

Problem was solved. Undervolting CPU, GPU, changing thermopaste doesnt help. Solution was in : the radiator had to be disassembled and cleaned. The dust was removed only externally, but did not look inside. Now the temperature under very heavy loads is 78-80c. Black streaks are lumps of dust, that was the problem
