my acer nitro 5 an515-54 728c laptop just turns off when i disconnect the charger or when i launch a game.
about 2-3 weeks prior to this, my screen for it broke. I ordered the replacement screen and put this laptop in a cabinet until i got and replaced the screen on it. The screen works perfectly, it seems.

After fixing the screen and turning it on for the first time in 2-3 weeks while it was sitting in a cabinet, i installed the latest updates for windows and geforce and whatnot. After this, I launched valorant (a game). I got to the menu screen when my laptop shut off. it just shut off. I tried again like 5 times and it shut off all those times.

Also, every time I unplug my charger from my laptop, it turns off, even though it is 100% charged. I checked on the Care Center for my battery health, and it said that it was good, so I don't think it's a problem with my actual battery.

My cpu temp at max is 69c.
I had never had this problem before. This only happened after I got my computer working today.

Could it be because of the dust accumulating over the span of the 2-3 weeks its been sitting in the cabinet?

My laptop turns off when i unplug the charger or when i launch a game. I have tried downloading the latest bios, uninstalling/reinstalling/updating the battery drivers, troubleshooting the power, changing my power plan, and I also tried battery resetting, but I am not sure i did the battery resetting correctly, so i will look more into that. I checked my battery capacity from a battery report, and it looks fine. I've had the laptop since August/September of 2020, so the battery shouldn't be the problem. Yet I have this problem of the laptop shutting down when I unplug the charger or launching a game. The first part to it is here: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/634098/my-acer-nitro-5-an515-54-laptop-turns-off-when-i-unplug-the-charger-or-launch-a-game/p1?new=1

I haven't tried doing that yet. Can you put instructions on how to do so please?

I have an update on the situation. My nitro 5 also shuts off when it seems to be under load, as well. I was running Davinci Resolve (an editing software) to check if it would shut down if I applied some effects in the application that would put it under load. It did indeed shut down. Before I had this issue, it would work just fine.

I posted the situation with some updates on the acer subreddit, if anyone wants to look at it.

  • I don't think the problem is related to overheating. I would try to disconnect the lithium battery and the rtc battery, to reset the bios settings. First, start disassembling at the top:

ive already tried updating the bios. I might just try getting a replacement or a refund using my warranty. I don't want to risk damaging it further.
  • If you live in the United States, I believe that there is no guarantee seal, correct? You can also try to reset the battery: turn off the laptop, disconnect the power adapter, press the power button for thirty seconds and leave the laptop off for thirty minutes.

I have tried this and it doesn't fix my problem. I think it might be an issue with the motherboard.
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.
