Hello there,

I have a a new Acer Swift 3 - SF314-59 laptop with Windows Home 10 installed. I noticed that the volume of the loudspeaker was occasionally quite low, even on max volume. I thought, maybe by updating the audio driver, I could remedy this problem. Therefore I installed the (currently) latest version 10.29.00.4648 of the audio driver from the acer support page (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/8652?b=1)

There were no errors during installation. However after installation, the sound of the loudspeaker is completely muted. Audio via bluetooth headphones is still working though.
If I go into Settings-Sound and click troubleshoot, it eventually shows that "Audio services not responding".  If I go in settings-sound-device properties-additional device properties on the tab advanced, I am unable to play a test tone ("Failed to play test tone").

If I check in device manager the properties of my "Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)" and look in the tab "Events", I read for the entry "Device configured" (when the driver was installed):
"
Device SWD\MMDEVAPI\{0.0.0.00000000}.{b6fee5a8-fbd0-4aa2-aa82-497b58730502} was configured.

Driver Name: audioendpoint.inf
Class Guid: {c166523c-fe0c-4a94-a586-f1a80cfbbf3e}
Driver Date: 12/06/2019
Driver Version: 10.0.19041.1
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Section: NO_DRV
Driver Rank: 0xFF0000
Matching Device Id: MMDEVAPI\AudioEndpoints
Outranked Drivers: c_swdevice.inf:SWD\GenericRaw:00FF3001
Device Updated: false
Parent Device: INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0255&SUBSYS_1025148C&REV_1000\5&3abbce3&0&0001
"
So in the end it seems, as if the driver wasn`t installed after all?

Any advice how to fix this?

    Hi,
Go to Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers select Properties, uninstall the driver in Driver tab, reboot and let Windows install the driver and see whether it helps.

Do you have the latest Windows 10 If you do check your computer speakers by the motherboard? to know how to do that here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=im5iSE6lMOE. Did you have any accidents with the laptop like dropping it or hitting it by mistake? Those are maybe the options but if all did not work then you may have to repair it. It may take 1-3 months to get it good as new my dude. If one of the options fixed the speakers so it could help everyone out who has this issue.
