Problem with ELAN Touchpad on Acer Aspire A315-56
I typically turn off the tap feature for touchpads because I accidentally 'click' when I don't intend to.
I'm seeing a problem with this laptop (Acer Aspire A315-56) where when I have tap to click disabled, the touchpad only intermittently clicks the mouse. As you can imagine, this is super-annoying. Sometimes the click goes through, sometimes I need to try again. This happens even when I hear the 'click' sound from the touchpad device and I feel the device actually clicking.
I'm not sure whether this is a hardware issue or a driver issue. I have the most recent driver installed for the touchpad. The hardware component is identified as the 'ELAN I2C Filter Driver' and I downloaded the most recent from the Acer support site. I'm running a very recent version of Windows Pro - 10.0.19042.
Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions on the appropriate fix or workaround?
