My W-key gets stuck when my PC is heated... PH317-51

Hello!

I have had my Acer Predator PH317-51 for 3 years now, and lately I have noticed that when I play games my W-key is stuck for a while after I release pressure from it. This is a huge problem for me when I play Rocket League and CS:GO as I cannot control my movement at all.

I have tested the W-key with pressure in a notepad when the computer was not heated (no games running) and it worked completely fine - But when a game is running and I hold the W-key down for 2 or more seconds it is stuck for a while after I release it. It is only the W-key that is an issue as I have also tested other keys, and I think that it has something to do with the rubber in it melting or something?

I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this issue, and also I have not spilled anything on my keyboard as I am careful with my devices.

Get a good “Quick Dry Electronic Cleaner Spray” and spray the “W” key and all keys to clean them, as there must be either dirt or the key expands when the laptop gets hot and gets stuck, you can take the key out but, be very careful as and if any parts get damaged and you don't reassemble the key back together correctly, then the key will be very hard to put together again. Otherwise and if you can’t fix this problem then get a new keyboard and replace your current keyboard, which is not a big job.

Hi LilFred, I would like to know if you were able to fix this annoying problem that actually I'm having too, Yes it happens when I'm playing and the laptop gets hot ( actually not on the Keyboard, but on the portion between the keyboard and the screen) in my case I don't use the WASD keys but the arrows instead and the one that gets a delay on releasing is the "up "one that stays pressed for longer on gaming.

I would hope that you were right about replacing the keyboard thinking that it would not be a big job but unfortunately, it would be a big deal instead:
These new generation laptops have the keyboard installed from inside the palm rest, and not as it was with older models from outside, it means that to reach it it's necessary to take everything out (battery, motherboard, and so on) and more the keyboard it's not just fixed with screws but thermo- soldered on plastic rivets in corrispondence of the holes all around and in the middle of the keyboard and that's why You will find on web market the keyboard with the palm rest as one item, Yes, it would be still possible but re- soldering the plastic rivets, wont gives any warrant of good resistance to pressure...

to replace the keyboard you need the full assembly not just the keyboard itself as i had already explained in another thread about the same issue and even gave part numbers depending on the language
