So I got around to changing my ssd but when I turn on the pc it goes straight into bios. But I don't seem to have an option to boot from hdd or ssd?

Do you know if that was the OS drive or the storage drive? At a guess the smaller drive would be the OS drive and if it was that one which was changed you would need to either clone the drive onto it, or re-install windows :)

Did you clone the HDD to the SSD before putting it in? You need to have a boot environment on the SSD before you can boot from it.

No I didn't.  There was nothing on the ssd apart from one piece of work software

OK, so backup the stuff that's on there if you need to be able to get back to it, then either clone the HDD to the SSD or do a Windows install to the SSD from scratch. It won't show up as bootable until the boot environment is actually on it.
