My screen flashes to completely black. (on and off like crazy)
This seems to be triggered by minimising my windows.

Originally, I had Snap settings enabled when this first became a problem - The screen would flash black once or twice after snapping and resume normally.
Days Later it would flash like a strobe light until I had maximised all the windows again.
I disabled the snap settings and things seemed fine for a few days.
Now its happening even with minimised windows - I can't avoid using minimised windows!

Today it triggered when I tried to print something off Chrome (which gives you a popped up box for printing). It wouldn't stop flashing till the box was gone.

I believe this is a software problem not hardware.
I am mostly using Chrome so maybe its related but I'm worried that its my graphics. Can anyone help me?

Thank you,
I have an Acer Spin 5 - SP515-51N

Try using any other browser like edge browser and also try the below steps
power drain: Just check the back of the unit, you can find a pin hole , unplug the charger and turn off the unit. now put a paper clip in the small pin hole and press and hold it for 30 sec.

BIOS default: power on the unit, but as soon as you power on the unit keep pressing the F2 key so that it take you to BIOS page. Press F9 and press Enter than press F10 and press Enter. the unit will restart

    Hi HannahSpin5User,

Is your unit has power to run. Did you charged your unit. Check the battery.

It happens when its plugged in but yes the battery power is fine. Besides the unit isn't switching off (Any audio is still continues as normal).

I really think this is something to do with the graphics.

I disabled my graphics and there were no flashes but obviously I want to use my graphics. Can anyone help?

Make sure you are running the latest GPU drivers and the latest Chrome. It sounds more like a software issue than hardware, and I put drivers in to my 'software' bin.

Unless I'm missing something, I do have the latest drivers and chrome is up to date.

Checked device manager, Display Adaptors, Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620, and update driver. Automatically searched for drivers  and got the message that the best drivers are already installed.
What's the best way of finding out if your graphics is running properly.
I tried speccy but it doesn't give much info. (at least not that I can interpret):

    Current Performance Level: Level 0
    Driver version 25.20.100.6576
Count of performance levels : 1
    Level 1 - "Perf Level 0"

I tried finding out if this was bad or not and couldn't.

Try this, uninstall the UHD 620 drivers, using the checkbox to delete files if available then install the one from Acer's support site. Reboot and test again. If it's still there go to Intel's site and download their latest drivers and update to them. Likely the Acer versions are older than Windows update gives and Intel's are newer...

Before I delete the drivers, where can I get them again. I'm having problem finding the page with all the drivers etc. (I know I've seen it before).

The Acer drivers are on their support site, from the main Acer page choose support, then enter your model info. For the latest, do the same thing on the Intel support site except use HD 620 instead of the Acer model.

This seems to have fixed it!
I haven't had any of the flashing/blackout problems in the last few weeks - yay!

Only I am having a few speed issues - my computer seems to be handling graphics slower than usual. Its not blacking out but it does seem dodgey every now and then.
And then there's a few things that I thought might be related to this problem but havent been fixed alongside the main issue.
(eg. touchscreen erratic at times and brightness settings dont work at all.)

I'm wondering if the fact that this is still dodgy perhaps indicates something is wrong with my graphics hardware or other maybe some adjacent software?
(I guess the other problems could be completely separate issues but seem very graphics-adjacent)

But at least I can use my computer now without major issues,
Thanks ever so much for helping me

There are so many different things, and combinations of things, that can cause that kind of behavior that I'd be reluctant to start by saying it's related. Especially touchscreen doesn't have anything to do with the video, it's handled by a digitizer that's connected by an internal USB port. Try running Resource Monitor and look at things like the disk activity and memory load when the issues are active.
