Does the Acer XR342CK support Displayport 1.4?

Acer XR342CK (bmijpphz) will not work correctly with Displayport connections.

1st Issue:

When switching between devices with a Displayport 1.2 and Displayport 1.4 the monitor no longer works properly. The screen does not detect the source when connected to DP 1.4.

The workaround is to change the "DP Format" setting in the monitor's menu from "1.2" to "1.1". This allows the monitor to output from the Displayport 1.4 connection but, does not allow daisy-chaining of monitors.

2nd Issue:

When setting the monitor to use Displayport Format of "1.2" the screen experiences random disconnections from the source resulting in a black screen for a few seconds.

No issues noted with HDMI connections

Troubleshooting

  • Tried multiple Displayport cables.

  • Tried using an HDMI to Displayport adapter.

  • Tried alternative Displayport 1.2 source (Radeon R9 390)

Additional Info:

1.2 Displayport source: HP Elitebook 830

1.4 Displayport source: AMD RX 5700 XT

Second Monitor: HP 24-inch

Spec says the DP is 1.2, not 1.4.

The Displayport 1.4 specification is backward compatible with Displayport 1.2.

This means you should be able to connect a DisplayPort 1.2 monitor to a DisplayPort 1.4 source and vice versa.
