Hello
i got a question. A few weeks ago I sent my acer spin 5 to the acer repair centre because of a loose contact of the charging cable. It returned and works completely fine, however i noticed that in the care centre it tells me I got an "aspire" even though i got a spin. furthermore, my active stylus is not being recognized by the screen.

thanks in advance.

regards
bahar

Which model do you have? It should be something like SP5xx-xxx-xxxx. Did they replace the motherboard?

a follow-up to what Billsey said. It looks like they took your motherboard out and put in the wrong motherboard, which I think is possible since so many models use the same basic internal footprint for motherboards. I would recommend getting back in contact with the company that made the repair and reporting it to them. I had, I think a similar situation happened with my screen, the repair people ended up replacing my screen with a screen that didn't have the digitizer that I needed so my pen would work. Or at least that is what i think. I sent it back to the repairer with a note about that and some other things that still need to be repaired.. and they sent it back to me repaired this time. with the pen working on the screen. I still have one of my usb-c ports that intermittently disconnects and also has a very slow data transfer rate.. much slower than the other USB-c port next to it.

It's actually pretty unusual for a motherboard to fit more than one or two models. They custom design the cases and motherboard to fit each other and most often they are different between models. It's not like the desktops where there's a set of standard form factors…

billsey.. not sure how you are not able to read through the lines.. or even understand i am refering specifically to the Acer Spin 5 series. Of that series there are at least 20-30 different models. You are spreading pessimism and inaccurate information. And your posts are worthless. I have looked at several of them and they offer nothing of value for problem solving.

Acer has made Spin 5 models for several years now, and the motherboards are typically not able to be swapped over different years. Since you haven't told us which one you have we have no way of even looking at the motherboard shape. Also remember that many Spin 5s are actually Aspire Spin 5… Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like SP5xx-xxx-xxxx.
