[Acer Nitro 5 AN515-44] I can't connect an external monitor through a USB Type-C to DP dongle

Hello folks. I'm having trouble connecting a monitor through the USB Type-C port. I've bought a dongle which is USB Type-C to DisplayPort so that I can connect it to my new monitor (Dell P2419H) but as I said I'm experiencing issues.
Whenever I connect the dongle to the type c port (without connecting the display port to it) I get this message:

As far as I know, my type c port is gen2 and supports video output and I shouldn't be experiencing such problems.

The laptop doenst have displayport out I'm afraid, it isn't a standard usb feature

To get it to work the dock would have to support display link rather than display port. These work by using a driver and shutteling the video over just the data channel

Could you elaborate more on this please? What exactly should I get?

I don't like linking to specific items but DisplayLink keep a list of official ones here

There are 4 main categories,

Docks , which give you many ports, starlink and pluggable do good generic ones

Adapters , which convert a single port into a single out, so usb to dp or hdmi

Displays, so this is what I personally use，where the entire display is made for portability

And your cheaper 'knock off' adapters, do you may see like a usb3A hub which includes hdmi but no mention of display link. The give away is in the description where it states you need a driver for it to work

What are you looking to use the display for, display link is ok for video, good for Browing but a bit meh for gaming

I'm looking to build triple monitor setup with 2 external monitors and the integrated laptop display. WIll be used for browsing and video but not gaming. What would be the cheapest option in your opinion?

Probs an adapter like https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-Supporting-Resolution/dp/B018YHTUNI (ahk it kills me to link a product 😂)

You could run internal display , one hdmi and this display link is heavy ish on the CPU though
