Aspire XC-780 - Issues with powering up

I recently relocated from the UK to Canada and brought my PC with me.  However, nothing happened when I tried starting it (using a 120V supply).  Q1: should there be any issues using a 120v supply on the Aspire XC-780 if purchased in the UK?  Q2: what could be the likely issue - new power supply unit required or could it be the mother board?  Thanks for any assistance.

You shouldn't have to do anything except change to the Canadian style power cord. The PSU is designed for 100-240V and handles the 50Hz/60Hz change on the fly as well. I'd likely look at what might have jolted loose during transit...

Thanks for your reply.  Is there any risk of any static charge causing damage if the PC was transported in the baggage storage of the airplane?  If so, what components could possibly be damaged?  I've purchased a replacement power unit to see if that was the case, but thinking it could be something else.  Any ideas?

Boy, I wouldn't think so... Static damage without pulling the computer apart will typically affect only one port, where the static was 'applied'. You can pull the PSU connector from the motherboard and jump the two pins that are used to turn it on. If the PSU is working the fan will spin up.
