My brand new Acer Swift3 SF314-57G won't switch on

When I try to switch on nothing happens, I can only turn on the laptop by holding down the power button for 20 seconds.
Is there something I can do to be able to power it on normally? I am worried someting is wrong with the battery.

NB When it is off, both lights at the side are blue, then once I power it on by holding down the power button one light briefly turns orange.
The laptop is less than 2 weeks old...

    How are you turning it off? It sounds like it's trying to sleep instead, and something is in the way.

    Hi billsey, it seems to happen regardless of how I switch off, or even if it goes on sleep mode itself

    First step is to look at the shutdown process, when you select shut down from the menu the power symbol in the start menu gives, does it shut down correctly and allow you to turn it back on? Next look at the options for what the power button gives, and what closing the lid does. Finally boot in safe mode to see if it works correctly there.
