I did some research and looks like this is a common occurrence where the battery will fail or no longer charge.  I purchased this laptop for my mother last February.  It fell below 20% two weeks ago and now will not charge.  Attempts to update to latest BIOS on support site fail because battery power is below 25%.  I have a support request into Acer since the laptop was purchased less than one year ago.  Waiting to hear back from them.  Any ideas on what the culprit is?  I assume the battery is shot.

Open Device Manager. If no red or yellow warnings are displayed, click on the batteries folder. Right click and uninstall ALL battery drivers you find in this folder. Exit Device Manager without trying to re-install anything. Shut down Windows normally. Then turn the machine on again. Jack E/NJ

Thanks Jack!  The laptop is still under warranty so Acer has it.  Hope to have it back in a week or so.  Jim
