Hello,

I'm using a Acer Swift 1 (SF114-32) laptop, with the latest bios firmware available (Datum: 2020/08/31 Versie: 1.14) currently available. This laptop is tested with the Intel(r) CSME vulnerability tool from the Intel(r) download section.

With the result today (21-01-2021) this means that this device is vulnerable for an outdated Intel(r) ME firmware version that can only be applied trough a bios update (witch on this moment is not available - yet).

  • The device (Acer Swift SF114-32) is less than 3 months old.
  • The device is still being soled.
  • The devices 'should' still get software updates.
  • Sending the laptop to a Acer Care Center does not solve the problem/bug.
With this explained, I have 4 questions;
  1. Can a consumer/end-user of this laptop patch/apply-a-patch the bug-in-any-way-possible itself?
         If yes, how?
    Intel(r) drivers in windows can be updated from the Acer release drivers.
  2. Can Acer be kept accountable for any issues deriving from this out-dated bug, when not supplying patches?
  3. Is there for customers any road-map/warranty available, regarding;
    When Acer is going to update recognised and solved bugs?
  4. Is there any way I can help with help with getting Intel(r)-Bios-Firmware updates fixed?
Kind regards,

    Sorry, CloudDevelopment, unfortunately, the Acer community is not a direct portal to Customer service, many Acer employees read the various topics posted here and you will notice that some Acer employees interact with members when appropriate, but primarily we want the community to be a place where members can exchange their own advice and ideas. With that been said, I recommend you contacting your local Acer support center to have those questions answered:

    https://www.acer.com/ac/nl/NL/content/service-contact

    Can I ask? what exactly is the bug you're experiencing with your unit currently?

    Thanks,
    Acer-Manny
