My new spin 5' SP513-54N s touchscreen is not working properly.

Hey all,
I recently upgraded my old spin 5 to the new SP513-54N model and the touchscreen is being very glitchy. If I close the laptop so it is in sleep mode not off, the touchscreen won't work until I restart the entire laptop. This is obviously very frustrating and makes no sense. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? If so, were you able to fix it?

    "Won't work until I restart the entire laptop" isn't right... Won't work until I've woken it by touching is normal. What's supposed to happen is when left for a period of time the system turns power off to the internal USB port that the touchscreen is on. It's left in a 'turn on by touch state' where you have to wake it up before the touch starts to do anything. Any touch should do that, however. Since in your case it's not, I'm guessing there's something screwed up either in the sleep settings or in those power settings. The brute force fix is to just do a quick reset of the system from the D2D recovery image. If your system is really new, as in you haven't yet done a lot of customization, it's probably your first step. Give it a try or let me know it isn't feasible right now and we'll look at other options.
