I spilled a drink a while back on my Acer Chromebooks keyboard. I did everything from cleaning the motherboard, changing the motherboard, and getting a new charger, but it just wont turn on! Please help, and if it needs to be repaired by acer, what do you think it will cost?

If you changed the motherboard, is there any chance one or more of the cables aren't fully connected?

Firstly, what is the exact model of your Chromebook e.g. C720 etc? Because if it won't turn on due to liquid spillage, it means that the mobo has shorted itself out and this has caused a catastrophic failure of its components due to it having its power on when the liquid spillage happened. It also depends on where the spillage happened? If it was where the power/charger plugs into the laptop and only that board section got wet with liquid then (as its a separate board) of the mobo can be replaced and you could be lucky, as that is a very slight chance of that happening? If the spillage was allover then a new replacement mobo is needed as its shorted out.

Chromebook case without mobo and power/plug board on the right side.

You could do this yourself if you are experienced and technically capable. Look up your
Chromebooks model and look up its mobo number and search the internet for the exact mobo model that you have (there are allot of mobos for Chromebooks available and they range from about US $75 +) also, its best to see the physical shape of your existing mobo and compare it to the new one in the picture and replace it, then interchange all the old replaceable components. You will need a anti static wrist band, Phillips #1 screwdriver and opening Plastic Tools and undo 13 screws (on the underside) then pry the back panel open with the plastic opening tool.

This is a good guide to a Chromebook
MAIN BOARD disassembly and follow these steps then take the mobo out and then replace the old with the new one. If you want to send your Chromebook to Acer then the repair could be anything, if its only the power board then it could be less but if its the mobo and labour e.g. mobo price lets say US $75 mobo plus labour costs of 2-3 hrs could cost you US $250 plus, as Acer will do the same as I've described above, as they will not try to fix specific things on your mobo related to your power problems due to liquid spillage. Good luck, hope this was a guide, as I've done this many times and it works out allot cheaper.
