My newly purchased USB/Audio board doesn't function. Aspire A315-51

Hi.

My name is XXXX and I have a big problem with my Acer Asphire A315-51

(serial Number: NXGYYEH001XXXXX).

Because I use my laptop in many different configurations, I have to plug-in and plug-out USB connectors many times over. So often in fact that one of the connectors broke loose from the pcb and from the other the middle part of the USB connector has broken off. The pcb was so damaged that I decided to order a new one (DA0ZAVTB8D0) but after I replaced the board, I noticed that both the audio connector and the the USB connectors don't function anymore.
The replacement board that I purchased is a genuine Acer product so I don't see what the problem is.

The USB connectors don't carry +5Volts while the audio connector also doesn't seem to be connected to anything. I measure an endless high resistance between between chassis ground and connector pins while the connecting flatcable is properly connected.

Could it be so that I have to re-upload and re-install drivers before it works or so?

Anyway, like this my laptop has not much use left so I would be very thankful if anybody had some tips about how I can activate this brand new USB/Audio board. (The blue and yellow power monitor LED's actually do work, by the way)

Does Device Manager show any red or yellow warnings? If none, does the sound, video and game controller folder, list the realtek HD audio device driver? Jack E/NJ

No.

Yes, and I've updated the drivers but still nothing and also the sound properties like realtek microphone/output is shown but doesn't get any signal when tested.

I have also updated all USB drivers but apart from the single USB3.0 port, the two USB2.0 ports remain offline.

If it's a new replacement board, how do you know it ever functioned properly? In other words, how do you know that the new board isn't possibly defective? Where did you purchase the board? Jack E/NJ

I don't. I never said that it ever functioned. But it is similar to the original board to every last detail like fonts, dimensions, number of layers etc, etc. They even send a new flatcable with it. If this was a hoax, they wouldn't had run the extra mile.

What I did say however is that the power monitor LED's do function which also indicates that it is genuine. Why connect the LED's but not the other features?

Furthermore, there are no active components on the board so it is straight from the connector to the peripheral components.

I ordered it from Xyverx Computer Services, a company in Florida and they are active since 2003. That, together with the overall impression they give meant in my perception that they seem to be legitimate component resellers.

Sorry, not questioning legitimacy. Just suggesting that the board might be defective even though it might be new. New equipment sometimes fail. I have no other suggestions or explanations since i canntot physically examine or test the system. Jack E/NJ
