Installation of Windows 10 on Acer Swift 1 SF113-31

Hi all!

I wiped the disk of my Acer Swift 1 (model SF113-31) to install Ubuntu. Now I need to install Windows 10 to pass it on. I have a USB memory with the latest version of Windows 10 (Win10_20H2_v2_Spanish_x64.iso), but the installation process stops to request some unspecified driver. I have tried all 13 available drivers on the Acer website plus the Intel DCH driver, but none have worked; the installer rejects them and keeps asking for a missing driver. Do you know which driver is it requesting, and where can I get it?

Thanks in advance!

Can you take a picture of the error message? There's nothing I can think of that would be an issue like that. Have you tried going into the BIOS and resetting everything to defaults?

The 'driver' only works with original OS provided by Acer in the backup folder in your HDD/SSD. Unless your laptop has passeed the warranty period, better get some new SSD to works on.

Sure, there you go! I could just upload one image, I will upload the second image in a new post. The messages are in Spanish, they are requesting for a disk driver and then saying that no driver was found.

I have tried resetting everything to defaults, yes, but it does not seem to work.

So if I wipe the SSD completely, I should be able to install Windows 10 anew? Thanks in advance!

It looks as if the drive is not being recognized. Instead of starting the install on the second screen choose Repair and then get to the command prompt. Use diskpart from there to see what is on the drive (list disk, sel disk #, list part) and capture that for us. My first guess is the drive isn't configured for GPT and has partitions on it that are stopping the install.

list disk shows three disks: the first has 58 GB, the other two are removable drives I'm using.

Disk 0 had two partitions: System (512 MB) and Unknown (57 GB). It appears that you are right and there was an unknown partition.

I followed the instructions from Tom's Hardware to format the drive. Now it shows disk 0 as having one partition of type "Principal" (Main, 58 GB). But when attempting a new installation it goes again to the page complaining that a driver is missing.

Any ideas? I would like to donate the laptop but I need to install Windows first. Thanks!

Use diskpart to clean off all partitions and don't manually create any. Does the Windows installer then see the disk? Normally you want the disk clean so Windows can create the needed UEFI partitions.

I'm sorry to report that this was not successful, the same request for some unidentified disk driver appeared. In the end I had to donate it with Xubuntu. Thanks anyway for your help!

It would be awesome if someone from Acer clarified this issue for future occasions.
