Memory upgrade. A315-53

Please can someone advise me as I'm a bit confused with which options are best. I'm a PC so sorry for my simple question. I have an Aspire A315-53/Serial Number - NXH37EC001XXXX- XXX which has a 4GB 2400MHz memory.I would like to buy either an 8GB or 16GB upgrade. Which is best, the 2400,2666 or 3200MHz option & does the CL number have much impact?. Furthermore, do I just add the new hardware to the 2nd slot & get the new 8GB plus the original 4GB thus a 12GB total?. I was thinking of the following 8GB options.

It depends on many factors? If you have an OEM 4GB 2400MHz in the  A315-53 1x slot (removable memory) which I think that you are saying? And you want to add bigger capacity removable memory then, I would use the same capacity spec/timing memory as its OEM removable memory. The best way is to find our exactly what your A315-53 "Total Capacity RAM" is or "Get Full PC Memory Specs" through these cmd prompt commands to make sure and to add the suitable memory. As far as Crucial Memory is concerned the Aspire A315-53 can take max memory of 20GB, and has 4GB memory soldered onto the motherboard and has a chipset of the "Intel Series 100" it also has, 1x memory slot (1 bank of 1) removable, hence you can add one by 2 or 4 or 8 or 16GB memory module. It also has a driver interface of the SATA 3 at 6GB/s, if you want to add a 2.5" SSD drive.

Note: adding overclocked or certain high speed RAM modules e.g. like Hyper-X, Viper Steel Series or 3200MHz  RAM's is very risky as they will not work on your A315-53 and will be a waste of money, that is why you have to make sure that you investigate what works and what doesn't work on your A315-53's motherboard and with its OEM CPU and chipset. As more and faster is not always the best or works, do the check that I provided above and see the guides and suggestions (which are not always 100% correct) and are provided by reputable RAM manufacturers.
