CPU running at high GHZ AN515-52.

Hello,

My computer's CPU runs at 3.98 GHZ even when idle. That's why I can hear the sound of coolers even when idle. Since it never drops below 3.98 in games, I eat instant fps drops (due to heating). I can limit the CPU speed to an application called throttlestop, but the computer itself cannot do this. Has anyone else had this problem? The bios version is 1.28, my computer is AN515-52.

I'm waiting for your help.

Windows 10 is very limited. If you set the Maximum processor state to 100%, your CPU will use full turbo boost and will try to run at full speed. If you reduce the Maximum processor state from 100% to 99%, it will disable turbo boost so your 9750H will only run at a maximum of 2.6 GHz.

If you need to control the maximum speed of your CPU, use ThrottleStop. Make sure Speed Shift Technology is enabled in the TPL window. On the main screen, set the Speed Shift EPP value to 80. This will allow your CPU to slow down when lightly loaded. Some people have too much stuff running in the background. Check the reported C0% in ThrottleStop when your computer is idle at the desktop. Computers can average less than 0.5% in the C0 state when idle.

You can lower the FIVR - Turbo Ratio Limits to lower your maximum CPU speed to whatever you like. When these are locked by the BIOS, you can adjust the Speed Shift Max value in the TPL window to control your CPU speed.

Full control of your CPU with ThrottleStop or zero control of your CPU with Windows 10.

Your default Windows CPU drivers should be OK. Post some screenshots of ThrottleStop if you need help.

If you have made changes to the default Windows power plans, reset them to their default values.

  • Hi,
Have you tried switching to different Power Plans? If not try changing to different plan and see how the CPU behaves under different plan.

Hello, This limitation has no middle. When I do it balanced, it stays constant at 2.20. When I perform, it doesn't go below 3.90. Either way, it stays in extremes and my computer gets very slow in one and very hot in the other.
  • Give this a try, go to Device Manager, expand processors, right click each Core and uninstall the driver, reboot and let Windows install the driver.

  • Hi,
Can you please post the CPU model name.

    Merhaba,
lütfen CPU model adını gönderebilir misiniz?
    cpu modeli i7-8750H

There is an uninstall device option and an option to update the driver. There is no uninstall driver option. What should I do?

  • OK, right click and select Properties, move to Driver tab and uninstall the Device.

Hi, I followed exactly what you said.

    When the system is completely idle, as follows;

Your CPU will not throttle down if it has something to do. Get rid of McAfee and you will see a drop in CPU activity and idle temperatures.
