ASUS ED273UR monitor - no 144hz over DVI-D Dual Link?

Hello there, I have been recently having problems with 144hz on my monitor. There is no option to change to 144hz. I am running the monitor over DVI-D Dual Link (the cable that came in box with the monitor). When i drop the monitor resolution down to 1080p from 1440p, I only have a 70hz option.

My PC specs are as follows:

AMD Ryzen 3 2200G (will be upgrading to a Ryzen 7 soon)

16GB RAM

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (I know I won't get 144hz in most games)

I have been also reading some other forum threads regarding this, and found out that the most common solution is to use a DisplayPort cable. Is that it?

on desktop, right click, select display setting, click advance display setting and you just navigate to any windows that have the "refresh rate" word, from there you can change the refresh rate to 144hz

I don't know if this will work in DVI....
