Is CPU temperature in high 80s under a light load normal for Triton 300 PT315-52-7337,

Hi everyone, I just got a Triton 300 (PT315-52-7337, it has an i7-10750H). CPU temperatures spike into high 80s and even 90+ degrees playing relatively old/simple games like World of Warships and Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. The attached screenshot shows temperatures in the high 70s to high 80s (cluster of many lines with one for each core) even with less than 50% CPU utilization (orange line) in steady state while running a little crypto mining in the background. CPU temps settle to about mid 45-50 idling. This is all with the CPU fan on maximum and the laptop on a cooling pad in a 76 ˚F room. With this kind of performance under a light load, I’m a little afraid to actually play AAA games or work with a heavy load lol.

So my questions are: Is this normal for this machine? Do you get similar temperatures for similar conditions? (also maybe it would be helpful for me and others if a few people could post some data from their own tests similar to how I did). Thanks!

Hi Fiend, most definitely, Acer gaming products are designed to withstand higher operating temperatures than traditional laptops. These systems include features that help with cooling and heat dispersion. The CPU and GPU are designed to handle temperature peaks greater than 98 degrees Celsius without damaging the components. It is common for PC temperatures to temporarily increase during the intensive use of games or graphics. If the system finds excessive temperatures that could damage the hardware, it will automatically shut down to protect the components from damage.

The following symptoms may be indicators of a system that is overheating and that requires repair:

1. The system shuts down due to high temperatures.

2. System components reach temperatures too high to touch.

3. Prolonged periods of operation when the temperature exceeds 98 degrees Celsius.

Notes: This does not include temporary temperature peaks.
