The letter E on the keyboard of my Aspire 8943G laptop has stopped working.

I am unable to replace the keyboard because there are no new QWERTY keyboards available - only French (AZERTY), German ...

So the only option I have is to repair the existing keyboard.

I have removed the non-working key and its cradle (please see image). When I press and release the white silicone nipple it springs back as it is designed to do. But the letter E will still not type for me when I press the nipple.

Is the solution to swap the nipple with the nipple of another key that I rarely use, so that nipple will be hardly worn?

If so, how do I remove each nipple?

Is it best to remove the keyboard so that I can remove the metal frame in which the nipple sits?

Will I need a razor blade to remove the nipples?

Will I need to glue the nipples into their new positions, or can I leave them loose?

Thank you so much for your advice 🤍
