First make sure that USB is the 1st boot priority, then and the reason why your USB won't boot with the 'Windows Installation Files" is because you haven't formatted it to GPT/UEFI, to do that see this guide "How to install Windows 10 from USB with UEFI support" here: How to install Windows 10 from USB with UEFI support | Windows Central as this guide will show you how to format your USB to the GPT/UEFI format within the "Create Windows 10 installation media" setup process, try that.

It's a good idea to create a recovery drive. That way, if your PC ever experiences a major issue such as hardware failure, you'll be able to use the recovery drive to reinstall Windows 10.

A bootable USB flash drive is very helpful when you need to manage your disk/data on an unbootable computer, check out the how to do that.

Yes what you suggest is correct. I've got subscription to Macrium Reflect v7 and use it as a constant backup and also have installed its "Boot Menu option for system Image recovery" (see caption) which works great and you don't have to make a bootable USB, all you have to do is just backup your Win-10 system files only on an external drive or internal drive and keep a Win-10 system backup and if your system ever crashes you boot into MR v7 with the "MR System Recovery" and use the backup, which doesn't take allot of room. its like 175GB. I keep all my personal files on a slave drive so that the system and personal files are never ever on the same drive or mixed together. I find MR v7 backup software the simplest and most convenient and easiest to use.
