Since a few months ago when I updated my Windows 10 (which always brings a slew of problems) my videos have been out of sync. However, in the past few days, it has gotten completely out of hand. This is prevalent across multiple apps: YouTube, VLC Media Player, and various other video streaming websites. It has made watching video completely impossible.

My model is the Aspire E 15.

Windows has been completely useless when it comes to their side of things despite their update most likely causing it. My Windows, audio driver, and video driver are all supposedly up to date.

Sorry. This is often an issue with a youtube, netflix or other video server and/or your internet provider's transmission. You have little or no control over this because it has nothing to do with the receiver --- your laptop. I experience similar issues here. Here are some sync'ing tests you can run to see how many fps apart the the clock tick is from the video indicator. Mine vary by about ± 5 fps right now at 60 fps. Sometimes a lot more during the day if my ISP traffic is high.  Jack E/NJ

Except it's not just streaming. It's my VLC media player too, which is ran completely independent from my internet connection. In other words, I can't even play the digital movies I own while not connected to the internet.

What screen and audio resolutions do you currently have set? Jack E/NJ

    1920 x 1080

No idea how to check audio resolution. There's no options under my audio tab except for troubleshooting and devices.

Right click the speaker icon in the tray. Click sound settings. Click output device properties. Click additional device properties in right pane. Click advanced tab. Try setting audio to CD quality output if available. Also what is your full E15 model number? For example E5-576G? Jack E/NJ

Alright, I've set the quality to CD. Thank you for the walkthrough. I'll test this out when I get the chance and update the post accordingly.

There is still a very noticeable lag between the syncing.

    I have a E5-576G and I believe I have latest windows-

And I haven't experienced any syncing errors.

This model had at least 5 different FHD & HD displays when it first released. Probably more offered during production.  Do you sense any flickering at 1080p? What happens if you drop the screen resolution to 720p if available. Jack E/NJ

Nope, no flickering. I've dropped the quality down to the lowest settings possible on streaming apps and I still have the issue. Can't really change the quality of my videos in VLC, but I imagine that too wouldn't help much. I'm working with Microsoft as well right now to see if I got a bad update or something.

Updating BIOS to the latest version has fixed this issue for a F5-573

Well there is BIOS v1.49 if you have an earlier version. But due to the higher risk of bricking the machine, if it was mine I'd probably download and run something like DriverBooster freeware to see if it'll pick up any device drivers on line that might address the issue.  Jack E/NJ

Yeah, I'm not willing to download a BIOS and bricking my PC. If all else fails after attempting to reinstall a new update to my Windows, I'm just going to reset to factory default and start from scratch.

If you're forced to do a reset, make sure you immediately enable System Protection in Control Panel's restore point app in the likely event an errant Win10 update tries to sneak in there again when you're not looking and mess things up. At least that way you'll be able to identify the problem update and temporarily block it with Microsoft update hide tool till a future update fixes it. Then hope the future fix doesn't cause other collateral damage that's worse than the sync issue. Such is new, fast, furious and seriously unimproved Windows life cycle policies    :/   Jack E/NJ

FWIW my E5-576G has been updated to v1.49 - and there are no desync issues. If all else fails we'd have to resort to a BIOS update... but it does make sense to exhaust all other risk-less avenues first

Re-installed the latest Windows update and everything appears to be well... until their next update, at least.

Congrats. Don't forget to turn on System Protection in the restore point app. Jack E/NJ
