Hi, following the lead above from musicrab, I took the risk and ordered the cable for the A311 =musicrab said:
Hi, just about to buy an A111 (used); is there a service guide for the A111 ?  I want to know if the A111 has a service hatch - looks like it from the photos above.  And if so, I have a rough idea which cable to get for an SSD.  Think its this one.  (even though it says its for the A311 and A132)...    http://www.mk-electronic.de/eng/items/show/50.GG2N7.004
The cable I brought came from ebay. Pleased to report that I was able to fit a 240gb SSD to the A111 using the cable. Was as simple as removing the cover, plugging the cable in, routing it along the edge and plugging in the drive. Loaded into windows, went to disk management and the drive was listed as drive0 ready for initialization. I haven't yet loaded the OS to it, but see no reason that it won't work. The drive sits loosely in the bay, as the A111 doesn't have the mounting fixtures, but I am happy with a small square of double sided tape to hold it in place and avoid rattles.

I can also report that I upgraded it to a single chip 8GB of Ram

I spent about 80 gbp on this upgrade - the result is a Celeron  N4000 with 8gb of RAM and a 240gb SSD. A clean install of Windows 10 and the young lady who will be using it for school work should see some value for that money compared to buying a similar machine new.
hi there, thinking of doing the same upgrade to my A111. onboard is 4gb ddr4 soldered to the mb. did u buy another pc of 4 gb ddr 4 ram to install, what was the spec ? were u able to transfer the OS to your SSD?

    thanks in advance,
