Editing Bios to turn the keyboard light delay off SF514-54T-5843

A liitle nervous about pressing the wrong button.....need a little handholding editing the bios. Too many contradictions online and youtube. Please advise. Thank you.

Some of Acer's models have that in the BIOS and some don't. Go into BIOS and look at the main screen. If the option is there change to disable the timeout. If the option is not there press CTRL-S and then refresh the screen by going to a different tab and then back again (the refresh may not be needed). If the option appears then you can change it. If the option doesn't appear then your BIOS doesn't support the function.

You're misunderstanding my question. You also misjudge my expertise. I don't know how to access bios. I need help from the point of 'Go to settings' through to the point where the keyboard backlight option lies (if it is there at all)

The method I use to get into the BIOS is to start a reboot and start spamming the F2 key after everything goes blank and until after the Acer logo shows up. But, there's also a way to do it from within Windows 10:

1. Open 'Settings. ' You'll find 'Settings' under the Windows start menu in the bottom left corner.
2. Select 'Update & security.'
3. Under the 'Recovery' tab, in Advanced Startup, choose 'Restart now.'
4. Select 'Troubleshoot.'
5. Click on 'Advanced options.'
6. Select 'UEFI Firmware Settings.'

When it reboots it should put you into the BIOS without needing to hit the F2 key.

Now that you are in the BIOS go to the Main tab look for anything having to do with the keyboard backlight. If there's nothing there try hitting Ctrl-S to see if more stuff appears. If it's still not there then your model likely doesn't have the option.
