Hi, Newbie here,
I need to replace the internal battery on Aspire F5 - 571-50PF.  The one in there does about 2.5 hrs now and that's pushing it.
Ordered a replacement from china but that did 2hrs tops.
Acer doesn't have them for sale in the store. What is the solution here. I am so inclined not to buy an Acer again. Does anyone know how long the battery should last under normal use. Please guide and thank you in advance. Stay safe

What use seems normal to you? Your model should probably run 4-5 hours under the following circumstances

    (1) Current full charge battery capacity is still about 90-95% of its factory-rated design capacity.
    (2) No non-Microsoft virus scanners running in the background
    (3) Power  plan set to power saver mode, not performance or balanced mode
    (4) Screen brightness set to 50% or less
    (5) No multi-tasking. Only one low power demand application running such as a  browser like IE or FireFox
    (6) Net surfing limited to static screens. No videos or movies
    (7) Sleep mode activated after 10-15 mins of inactivity

You can determine current capacity by going to the elevated command prompt.  Enter 'powercfg /batteryreport'. Then return to the desktop. Open file explorer. Then search for' battery-report.html' in the c:\windows\system32\ sub-folder. Double-click to open it in the browser. Post screenshot of the first part of the report if possible that compares design full charge capacity with its remaining full charge capacity. Jack E/NJ

Battery packs are commodity items usually mfd by generic mfrs to specifications for name brand labels like Sanyo & Panasonic. The largest capacity battery pack that'll physically fit inside this machine is the 37Whr or 2.5Ahr 15volt part no. KT.00403.025. The physics and chemistry of Li-ion  cells dictate this reality so trying to make one on your own with higher capacity that'll fit is unlikely. You have two options other than the  power-saving suggestions made earlier. (1) Since the shelf life of battery packs are about 7-10 years, you should try to buy from a vendor or distributor with high volume sales and battery stock turnovers.  This helps to assure but does not 100% guarantee that the new packs are relatively fresh manufactured, not new old stock that've been sitting on shelves for 5 years in which a significant percentage of the original 37Whr capacity can be lost. (2) You can also invest in an external portable battery pack or power bank that can extend the run time about 2-3 times longer than the internal pack alone. Jack E/NJ

Try this link as they supply laptop batteries for ACER and other laptop manufacturers. They may cost more than Amazon and CentralPoint but probably have fresher stock because that's their main businesses.

You can ask the seller what the manufactured year and month is so you don't end up with an old battery that had been shelved for years and lost some of its capacity. Manufactured year and date are printed on the battery.

Despite what you might think, not everything you read about extending battery life on the internet are accurate. Windows automatically warns you when battery drops below 10%. There is virtually no benefit to limit charging to 80% of capacity instead of 100%. The main drawback is that you're limiting runtime unnecessarily.  If you insist on doing this anyway, there is battery charge control freeware utilities you can use. Jack E/NJ

That battery has lost nearly a third of its design capacity. So less than 3 to 3.5 hours if IE or FireFox is used. Chrome is a power hog. So drop it 2.5 to 3 hours max. Videos & movies unplugged anytime are gonna drop it even more. You're lucky to get 2 to 2.5 hours. Jack E/NJ

Acer doesn't sell the battery pack in its store. Where can I buy a good solid pack. I am comfortable using the comp in the way I do. What alternatives do I have or what can I do. Can I make a better battery pack on my own. I'd hate to dispose of this laptop.

Thank you, for your insight and suggestions. Finding a reliable supplier and fresh batteries is a tall order. I dont know of any.
I would have thought Acer would have been the best supplier.
Reminds me of mobile phone issues, get a new phone if the battery starts acting up.
I feel I can't adjust my lifestyle to suit my machine. The machine must be able to cope.
If you know of someone who is reliable supplier, I will be very grateful for their address.
I thank you for your time and effort, it was very generous of you. Be well and stay safe... please.

Batterei Butik, didn't have 37,000 mWh battery and never stocked it. Battery was manufactured in June this year 2020. It hasn't made an fantastic difference I can see.
What baffles me is how do you keep an eye on charging battery not going below 20% and not over 80%
