My older Acer AL2216W monitor is not recognized by a new PC with Windows 7 installed

Just tried to hook up my new HP Business desktop with Windows 7 installed to an older Acer monitor, model AL2216W. When I turn on the PC, the monitor shows the Acer logo, then flashes "No signal" on the screen briefly before the screen goes dark and the power button changes from green to orange. The Acer website only provides display drivers for OS Windows XP and Vista. Now, I am not sure if this monitor is compatible with the newer operating system(s). Do I need to buy a new monitor for this PC?

The monitor should still be seen by the computer and recognized as a "Plug and Play" device.

Are you connecting it via VGA or DVI ?

Have you tried a different cable?

Have you attempted to install the driver for Vista?
