I have a similar problem, I have a Acer Nitro AN515-42. After connecting the headphones or speaker, the sound is still played throug the laptop's
speakers. I have had a laptop for 5 months and all the time I used the same headphones and speakers. I have never had problems with it before.
I have updated the drivers and still the same. Maybe someone will help me with this. I will be very grateful for anybody's help

Do the headphones work OK on another computer? An internal wire might be broken and thus the headphones can no longer be detected. If the headphone cable checks out OK, then open ControlPanel. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point' in the left pane. Is SystemProtection turned on in the box that pops up? If yes, click SystemRestore button. Click next. Select the automatic restore point with a date stamp the coincides with the date this headphone issue started. Jack E/NJ
