Today morning I noted that my laptop battery died and I plugged it in. Even after 2 hours, it didn't charge so I generated a battery report and the remaining capacity shows beyond 116% !!! How can this happen? Now my battery doesn't charge beyond 7%. Please help!

These are my battery details.

  • Name - AL15A32
  • MANUFACTURER - SANYO
  • SERIAL NUMBER - 16690
  • CHEMISTRY - LION
  • DESIGN CAPACITY 37,000 mWh
  • FULL CHARGE CAPACITY 16,561 mWh

My laptop is Acer Aspire E5-574.

Thank you in advance.

Battery has lost well over a half of its original 100% 37Wh design capacity. Its current 100% charge capacity is less than 20Wh. It's own internal charge regulator is simply showing some variability in this reduced capacity but it looks to be hovering around 16Wh most of the time. Sorry, it should be replaced fairly soon. About $30USD. Jack E/NJ
