Additional storage not showing on Laptop Acer Swift 3 SF314-54-81Q1

Hi there,

I have just installed an additional 1TB SSD hard drive in my computer. The computer has the software for the Intel Optane installed but not the module. The software showed the existing 256GB disk as the working disk and the 1TB disk as a recovery disk. However although the intel software could see the disk and therfore confirm all was connected correctly windows doesnt see the new disk al all. It is nowhere, system information, device manager, explorer etc.

I have had some help from someone on eht forum but they have exhausted any ideas so looking for anyone else to have a shot.

what is the exact model of the notebook and ssd? is sata mode set to first with optane premium in the bios?

Hi there the laptop is an Acer Swift 3 SF314-54-81Q1. The SSD is a Crucial MX500. The SATA at the moment is set to AHCI it was set to "RST With Optame" which are the only two options to me

Ok! Do it:

a) press the windows + r keys and type msconfig.

b) go to system startup and activate safeboot;

c) restart windows;

d) go to the device manager and then uninstall and delete the sata ahci controller driver;

e) then, restart windows, access the bios and change the sata mode to ahci.

Afterwards you will still need to initialize the disk in Disk Management before the OS will assign a drive letter...

egydiocoelho, Thanks fo the info unfortunatly this failed as i had already done this with Brummyfan2. My computer is still set to ACHI

Billsey, I have done what egydiocoelho and Brubbyfan2 sugested but the drive still doesnt come up to enable me to initialise it, as seen below

Is there an option to erase the recovery volume? Can you send some pictures of the Intel Optane Memory, Performance and Preferency tabs?

If you have an external case for 2.5" disks, try moving it out and initializing it there, then put it back in to remove the RAID info on it.

Hi Billsey,

Unfortunatly i dont have an external case I'll have to get one if thats the only way i can solve this. i find it bizzare that there is no step back on the INTEL software.

I'll do it later as i've run out of time i'm working away for the next few weeks. but thanks for the help and no doubt i'll be in touch when i get back.
