Memory upgrade for Aspire A3-54-593C

Hi!
I have an Aspire 3, A315-54-593C with 8GB memory. According to task manager and ZPU-ID cpu Z memory slot one is empty and slot 2 have 8GB in it.
Everywhere on the net it is stated that there should be 4GB soldered in to slot one and another removable 4GB in slot two. It is not true for my laptop however.
I have looked inside and there is an 8GB stick PC4-2400 SK Hynix HMA81GS6AFR8N-UH in the upgradable slot #2.
Does this mean that my only upgrade option is to remove the 8GB stick and replace it with 16GB for a total 16GB maximum? Can I solder in more memory somewhere?

Yes, your only option is to replace 8GB module with a 16GB module, I don't think you can solder more memory on the motherboard.

Bif thanks brummyfan. Do you think that I perhaps can buy a bit faster memory DDR4 2666 or something? or is that not very useful? Best regards / Bo

No problem, yes you could try 2666MHz module but it may downclock to 2400MHz, saying that most people have installed 2666MHz modules.
