Some questions about a Packard Bell EasyNote TJ66

Hello folks, i've just got an old TJ66 laptop that i plan to assign to one of my kids in order to do some school stuff and learn a bit about using a computer.

The compy comes with 4gb of RAM and a 320gb HDD, that is fairly enough for the planned use. However i've found the CPU falls a bit behind what i expected.
It's a T6500 Core 2 Duo CPU @ 2.10 ghz.

I would like to upgrade the CPU if possible, what is the fastest model i could install on this old lady? Would i need to upgrade the BIOS?
My wife still owns a HP EliteBook (metal) 6390p, with a T8500 that works somehow OK'ish, for now... But i'm not sure that the TJ66 would support a 1066mhz fsb CPU.

Any clue about this matter?

From here it looks like the CPU is upgradable... I don't find a service manual on it, so can't verify. The T6500 is a 35W Socket D Penryn 800MHz FSB so others from the same family might work. It looks like the T6970 or T9300 would be the fastest. I'd expect minimal improvement from that upgrade though. Dropping a SSD in instead of the HDD will be much more noticeable.

Thank you. I've chosen a T8300 that has a compatible TDP and FSB speed.
Speed improvement would be just a 15%, but for 8 euro, taking in consideration i would need to replace the thermal paste of the CPU anyways, it's not a bad price.
I will take your advice about a SSD as long as the computer has already 4GB RAM, it's a fair amount of memory to work with considering what the computer is aimed to do, i mean no intensive pagefile use would be needed, so i'm pretty sure it will be an improvement.
