I am in a catch 22 situation with my Acer Aspire 5740G laptop. It’s hdd failed and I changed it to a new ssd.
Though, I am not a computer geek, I initially tried to repair the failed hdd with start up repair but the message displayed was: ‘contact your system administrator or computer manager to determine if you need to repair or replace the disk’.
I inserted a new Samsung EVO860 SSD (not formatted), the message displayed was no operating system found. It also did not show in BIOS.
I have lost the installation DVD and the Windows 7 Home premium product key, SNID number and serial number has erased from the sticker on the bottom of the Laptop. Without these numbers I have been unable to contact Acer either by email or phone to request for an installation video or windows product key.
I tried a factory reset but it stopped at 74% with the message ‘unable to complete’,
Followed by message:
Error: WIMApplyImage fail. Error:0x45D (1117)
Followed by message on BSOD: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

I tried installing Linux Ubuntu to no avail, as bios is not detecting new ssd. Though I am able to use Linux Ubuntu from a usb.
At the moment when I boot my laptop, the message it gives is: Operating system not found.

Please how can I get the new ssd to be recognised in bios or get a recovery CD or copy of Windows 7 home premium product key from Acer? As without a SNID or serial number I am unable to contact Acer. I just want to get an operating system on the laptop to get it working again?
Thanks in advance for suggestions.
