It is actually the preferred placement for my Acer PC.
I have found two advantages placing the PC this way:
1) With the PC on it side, it will avoid damaging DVD/CD disc (small driver CDs in particular) when comparing with using it in upright position.
2) Since I swap M.2 NVMe SSD with a PCI adapter at the PCIe x16 slot frequently, I just push the adapter with the M.2 SSD in it straight down the x16 slot. I can normally do it in less than 15 seconds ( I don't even use the screw to tighten and lock the PCI adapter card, the flip latch there is just good enough) .
Kind of convenient !
