E15 Fan Vibration

So it seems my cooling fan is about to go kaput, it has started making a slight vibration which goes away if I put my finger near the heatsink outlet or open a resource-heavy application.
The thing is though, it hasn't affected cooling performance yet - idle temperature is what it used to be always, 40C-45C.
I've already ordered a replacement fan, will be delivered from China in about a month.
My question is, if I keep using the laptop with the slight vibration, do you guys think it could damage something else like the motherboard or the screwing-on points the fan is being held on?

Very doubtful any harm will come from your description of the vibration, performance and temps. If it was mine, I'd leave well enough alone and only replace the fan with the new one when the CPU/GPU is ready to be re-pasted to the heatsink with a good quality paste like Kryonaut or ArcticMX4. Doesn't seem to be ready yet for re-pasting.either. Jack E/NJ

    Thanks for the reply!

What would happen if I just replace the fan without touching the heatsink so I don't have to re-paste the CPU and the GPU?
The laptop is only 2 years old so I think the paste would hold out at least for another year.
The vibration goes completely away when I run a resource-intensive program or a game.

Replacing the fan would make you feel better. But only if the annoying vibration disappeared and no collateral damage was done in doing so; neither of which is guaranteed when opening up a laptop for elective surgery on its mainboard components.  Jack E/NJ

Well, there is some truth in that.
