I have been using this laptop for 14 months now and I just can't take it anymore. Today I'm buying a new laptop and it will not be Acer. I'm not one to write reviews but considering how much I paid for this piece of junk I wanted to leave a last vent about it. From day one I have had nothing but problems, let me explain. First problem I ran into was when the laptop wakes up it often freezes and you have to manually hold down the power button to do a hard restart. This happens about every 3rd time I wake it up which is pretty frustrating in itself. 2nd, the laptop sometimes just freezes up in the middle of whatever I'm doing and gives me the big blue screen and says it encountered a critical error and has to restart. This only happens about once every 2 weeks but it's done it ever since I bought it 14 months ago. Very annoying when your in the middle of something and this happens.
3rd, the laptop periodically tries to update windows 10 and when this happens it screws everything up!! It did this just last week and after the update I could not play any videos on sites like youtube. The time before that, it would not load up certain programs. So every time Windows updates I just have to go in and roll back the updates so this laptop continues to function. It's not Windows causing these problems because my wife's laptop a generic dell she uses for work and internet browsing gets the same updates and she has zero problems.

4th, you cannot update the graphics drivers or the entire system goes bonkers. Seriously who ever heard of a gaming laptop where you can't update the drivers??? One of my games that I play is World of Warcraft and when I log in it constantly tells me my graphic drivers are out of date. This affects some of my mods that I use to raid in the game. I have tried numerous times to update the drivers but every time I do, the laptop slows down and stutters to the point where I have to again roll back the drivers to the original version of when I bought this piece of junk.

I have to say one positive thing. When this thing works it works great! It plays my games at above average graphics settings and the 17 inch screen has amazing color. The sound from the stock speakers is really good for playing music or listening to videos even though I link it to a surround sound system. Also, the laptop stays very cool even under intense gaming and raiding. One of the coolest laptops I've ever seen and that is initially one reason I bought it. I just can't stand the other problems and they are annoying enough to want me to put it behind me and move on to another system that is more supported. I'm buying an Alienware today and I know they are overpriced but one thing you cannot deny is that they are supported by their manufacturer long after your purchase. This Acer Predator has never had any support since I bought it. They don't update the bios or anything.

Anyway, that's my rant and I'm stepping off my soapbox now. I won't be looking back at Acer which is sad because I am usually brand loyal. Godspeed and good luck to y'all
