Hello, i've searched for hours now and i cant find a solution for my problem and hope to find some help here. I need to get into the Intel Rapid Storage Utility to be able to fix a problem descriped in this thread https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/Lync/en-US/5f3f9862-ef7a-4a02-9a44-0bbc71e8d97f/clean-install-of-windows-10-1803-stuck-while-preparing-files?forum=win10itprosetup
TLDR: need a clean windows 10 install and nothing is working, this seems to be a solution for my problem. What i want to do is the following:
"I think I might have found a solution. I switched the bios to legacy. After start-up went into the RAID tool. Reset the RAID drives. (So it seems that you have two drives). Then build the RAID Array again. Switched the bios back to eufi settings. Then the install worked. It looks like to RAID array was broken due to the failed update."

The Laptop is a Acer Aspire S5-391

Every partition is deleted when i am in the windows setup: (sry for german language)

The Bios looks like this:

SATA Mode options are:
IDE Mode
AHCI Mode
RAID Mode

When i boot and try to enter the Intel Rapid Storage Utility the only information i get is:
No bootable devide -- insert boot disk and press any key

I tried the keycombinations: ctrl-i; ctrl-e; ctrl-r; ctrl-g; ctrl-c

I am not very experienced in these kind of things and i am just trying to help my father to get a clean windows install. Any advice would be appreciated the more detailed
the better. I hope someone can help me.
Thanks in advance and if you need more information i will try to provide them as soon as possible.

Kind regards,
Kolja

The original factory-installed windows version was win8.

    Thanks for the answer!

You must first IMMEDIATELY change the BIOS boot mode to back to UEFI mode! You risk losing everything on your HDD if you try to convert it to an MBR partitioning. Make sure you can still boot in UEFI mode. Then we will work on solving the IRST issue. Jack E/NJ

Hi, thanks for the answer again. I changed the BIOS settings back to UEFI mode, the computer is booting just fine. If i try to install windows i still get the same problem, the installation is stuck at getting files ready for installation (3%, highest was 13% so far).

I am sorry but i dont know what you mean by boot tabs? In my first post there is a picture of the boot tab allready or do you mean something else?

I had the exact same issue as you and figured it out.  you must go into bios and change boot to legacy from uefi, then save and after initial acer screen hit ctrl + i (without the + of course) That will load the RAID tool.  Reset both partitions then remake a new one.  I did just one instead of the two that were there.  Then exit and restart the laptop and go back into bios and change boot back to UEFI, save and restart and boot from your USB with the iso you created.  Everything installed perfect.  I had a Acer S7 391
