Acer G9-793 Thunderbolt 3 Port Is Only Acting As A Type-C Usb Port

Recently I bought myself a seagate ssd which requires thunderbolt 3 to run at full capacity, I've seen posts on this site saying that they've had problems with the thunderbolt port on this laptop. The port activates and fuctions but doesnt recognise the device as Thunderbolt 3 nor does the Thunderbolt 3 controller show up in the device manager, when I open the Thunderbolt software no devices show. I've emailed acer about a week ago and have had no reply and I'm trying to find a solution before the deadline to return the SSD expires. I would ideally have liked to install an ssd internally however searching this site i realised the ssd requires a bracket that no longer ships to the uk in order to stay docked. I'm fairly dense about all this however I've attempted to reinstall the software&drivers featured on the acer site for this model and as far as I'm aware the firmware updates automatically however when i enter the Thunderbolt software it says driver version unknown. My priority is just to have a functioning ssd so if anyone here knows of a retailer that sells the bracket I would be happy to do that as a solution.
