Triton 500 Dead Battery

Aloha, I bought a Triton 500 2060 edition In April last year but the battery has gone kaput already and the laptop is as good as useless.

Powercfg shows the battery as present but only having 51,422 mWh of 82,080 mWh, but the second it loses AC the laptop turns off. Also is unable to give the cycle count anymore so im guessing the logic board on the battery is dead. Battery reset and disconnect and reconnect has done nothing. Has anyone else had a simmilar issue?

All other componants are showing as working, just massively power contrained.

Also how long is support meant to take to send the mail / collection info, i put in a repair request 5 days ago but have not heard back apart from a "we willl get back to you" email. The automated system shows the laptop as already repaired (has never been sent), and the support line said they are unable to help. Not impessed for the price of the warranty and laptop! Was hoping to get at least 4 years out of it :(

As an update to this. The warranty process was started on October 30th and Just heard back today about it. There is a blown SMD capacitor which i am being told is *not* covered by the warranty.

there is no sign of any other damage to the board internals.

I am alarmed at this, If a laptop motherboard costing 2k isnt coverd . what is meant to be?

The level of support being offered by the line is very disapointing :(

I wasn't able to close the thread without answering, so I didn't want to necro the thread after this long!

I heard back after a couple of months after, and the laptop had to be returned in totality. Unfortunately, there was a bit of miscommunication as the keyboard was also damaged (100% my fault, i tried to clean the caps). There was a bit of back and forth about if the warranty becomes invalidated by other bits of damage to a laptop. The RMA handler argued that any excess damage breaks warranty, where I argued that as it was a blown capacitor in the power delivery, it's not something I could have affected, so it should be covered.

After some internal escalation, it was accepted as an issue with the laptop, as I had previously reported previous issues with the unit though here and via the official support (The GPU just disappeared after a few months of use!)

As there weren't any replacement parts available, I opted for a refund rather than wait for an unspecified amount of time for the part :( which was a shame as I loved my Triton!

Bad bits happen from time to time, and it was a few months into the pandemic, so my thoughts are Que sera, Sera. No point being too annoyed over it! I've been waiting for some of the MiniLED screens to appear in my local PCWorld, so I can see what the quality of the screens is like, as they are meant to be as good as OLED's which is something I'd love to see in the next tritons *(cough cough please Acer).

But with the Intel 12th gen / DDR5 release looming this quarter and the humongous Tick of Meteor Lake coming in Q1 2022, I'm half tempted to wait as the 7nm node + Chiplet design has the potential to be a ridiculous leap forward for Intel  (Given how major it was for AMD!), its the first real tick intel have had in years and really looking forward to that dropping! Mobile CPU's with 32 cores and hardly any power use, yes please :D
