Can I remove my laptop's battery and just power it by plugging in the AC adapter?

I have been having some battery issues lately, laptop keeps on shutting down randomly and when I check the windows event viewer, it says that the battery is the cause of these unexpected shutdowns. This happened when it was plugged in. I tried using it unplugged, the battery was at 89% and then after 10 minutes it shut down and when I open it again, the battery was at 10%. So, it really is a battery issue.

Now my question is, can I just remove the battery itself and just power the laptop by plugging in the AC adapter at all times when I want to use it?

Just worried this might not work because maybe the battery serves as the laptop's PSU so that's why I asked before removing it (I already figured out how to remove the battery).

The laptop is an Acer Aspire 3 A315-41G-R6CS.

Unexpected shutdowns plugged in are usually caused by a safety interlock switch that cuts all battery power to the mainboard when the bottom cover is either misaligned or loose. I suggest that you first try to tighten the screws on the bottom of the laptop, especially if you have had any reason to open it. This will help keep the safety switch in the on position. Jack E/NJ
