What are the proper steps to install Ubuntu 20.04 on Acer Travelmate 14" i5-8250U / 8GB RAM / 256GB?

 I am trying to install Ubuntu 20.04 (single boot, I want to erase Windows 10 completely) on Acer Travelmate 14" i5-8250U / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD / Windows 10 Pro (the 2019 Travelmate P2). The bootable USB was created using Rufus. I saw a lot of tweaks online so this is what I did so far: 

- Disable TMP and Secure boot in Bios

-Changed SATA to AHCI in Bios
-Enabled F12 option in Bios


I restarted the laptop after those steps, hit F12 but the USB is not detected in the boot menu. At some point I was able to see it in the Bios boot menu but I cannot boot from it.
i realize that there is a lot of possible combinations possible here. Could someone help on this since I am very fairly new to Acer and Linux in general?
